A timbre-matched monopole “direct-radiator” surround loudspeaker is specially designed for ideal performance on the wall and is combined with a state of-the-art dipolar loudspeaker. A switch selects the radiation pattern from either Dipole operation using two specially-designed 4” mid-high frequency drivers to a 2-way mono pole monitor speaker . The 4” drivers are optimized to minimize localization in dipole mode. A 1” metal dome tweeter with ferrofluid magnetic cooling and neodymium motor is used for monopole mode and a 6 ½” high power handling woofer is used for both monopole and dipole modes. This performance flexibility assures high performance surround in multiple system set ups and listener preferences. This surround speaker exhibits a wide dynamic range with low power compression.
