Onyx Studio 2 is rated 4.573333333333333 out of 5 by 75.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok I bought my speaker in January and all was fine for about a day. I left it charging for more than 5 hours and took it outside with me to BBQ. Well the sound was great and about 10 minutes into my Playlist it died. I turned it back on and set it on a lowerror volume and it lasted about 2 hours then died. I got it exchanged the day after thinking it was just that one... I'm now on my 3rd and they all do the same thing. I charge them for 5 hours they die in 10 minutes. The only reason I keep getting them is because I have insurance. I love the speaker, it has a fantastic sound quality but this battery is just breaking my heart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Premium price, but you get what you pay for The $450 price tag may be steep to certain parties, but keep in mind that Harman/Kardon's mission is "Beautiful Design and Warm, welcoming sound together at last", and that has been Harman/Kardon's mission for almost 70 years. While you might have to omit some footage from certain music, the decibel capacity of this product (not to mention the detail you get from this product) more than makes up for it, and it complements the company's "beautiful design of products" pretty well. Not included from the original Onyx is the 3.5mm jack, and that's a welcome plus. The speaker may be too large to carry anywhere you want, but the bottom line is, you get what you pay for this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Can't control who has control of the speaker. We had a family pool party at our home. I hooked to the speaker via Bluetooth with my phone. Everything was going fine till a few of the teenagers figured out they could play their music (which was fine with me) and increase the volume so loud the neighbors started to complain. I tried to manually lower volume but their cell phones via Bluetooth would override. I had to unplug it and pack it away which ruined it for everyone at the party. I want full secure control of speaker or it becomes worthless. I emailed tech support and they told me there is nothing they can do at this time. I hope they come up with a solution because it really is a nice sounding speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sound. I wasn't expecting that. I bought this speaker shopping around Christmas time and it was on special because the next model was about to fill the shelves. I was expecting it to make a little noise but when I connected it very simply to my phone through Bluetooth and turned it up I was blown away by the clear sound and deep bass. I certainly was not expecting what I was hearing and will highly recommend this to someone that doesn't want to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on a stereo system. And also perfect for people that dont live in a big house but live in an apartment complex and dont have the space for a big system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds Great Just picked up an this Onyx Studio it does not have the mic for my phone so must be the prev version. It sounds fantastic. Bass is big and full. I even changed the settings on my iPod I use for music got back it off so there is plenty of big sound. One problem I had was it was missing one of the rubber feet. Well, an e-mail to Harman Kardon and a few hours later I got a response back saying a replacement pair was on the way. So sound 5 stars for sure. Customer service well the rating is missing the + at the end because it was tops for speed and help.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awesome Sound, easy connectivity, abysmal battery. I bought this about three months ago, really excited that it could last up to 5 hours without being plugged in. Unless you listen to it at church volume levels it will not last anywhere near 5 hours. As a matter of fact, if you play it full volume, you might get 30 minutes before it powers off, without warning. NO low battery alarm, no flashing power light. IT's not just this unit as I had it swapped out. It's just a terrible battery, my guess is the battery is drawn down to the point that the battery protection kicks in (too low voltage) would it kill Harman/kardon to put a better battery in? I see that new version has the same awful battery specs. Sad, a bigger battery would hardly add that much weight and make this a truly wireless device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, Awesome, Awesome I would give this 10 stars if I could. Literally the greatest thing I own. Got it for Christmas last year, it's been all over the world with me (literally). Amazing it's lasted over a year, the volume is never less than 100% plus it's been in suitcases, knocked around, fallen down a flight of stairs, nailed to the dash of an old plow truck, and really just beat on. Finally let go on me this afternoon- the bass got muddy, basically it's starting to blow. But of course I'm buying a new one! Couldn't recommend this thing any more. I love it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great/but So to start off this speaker sounds awesome. I've been listening to Bluetooth speakers for a very long time and of everything I've heard, this is by far the best sound and well constructed speaker I've seen on the market. With that said I don't understand how such a high quality product can not come with an LED light that indicates when the battery is low and when the battery is fully charged. Even my Mini Jambox has that feature. In the future I think this is something that should be incorporated into this amazing product.

Will it hurt the speaker to leave the charger plugged in for long periods of time?

Asked by: Leo Z
All our portable speakers can be used while charging. The battery would stop charging once fully charged so you don't really need to worry about overcharging the speakers.

I have this speaker and I LOVE it... I use it with my iPhone but have a question... I have the original iPod - no blue tooth - that has WAY more music than my phone can ever hold. Is there anyway that I can plug that in to the speaker to use that?

Asked by: Catc
The ONYX STUDIO 2 has an aux input at the back right in the middle of the charging port and USB service port. So yes, you can plug Non-Bluetooth iPod/device to the ONYX STUDIO 2 using a 3.5mm audio cable to stream music.

I left my speaker plugged into the wall for 8 hours while playing music. When I un-plugged it, it powered off. I re-connected to my phone (un-plugged from the wall), played music & it shut down w/in minutes. It cont'd to do this several times.

Asked by: Ashley
The ONYX STUDIO 2 is behaving as it should. It will power off after removing charging cable. It is by design. Please try charging the ONYX STUDIO 2 at an alternate power source for maximum of 5 hours without using it. If the problem persists, it may have developed a fault. Please submit a case at http://www.harmanaudio.com/contactus and the Customer Service team will be more than happy to assist you.

The bluetooth button is not lightning at all, tried to press it for 4 sec but nothing happens. Cant connect/pair it with my iphone. What should i do? I'm excited to try it.

Asked by: Fredrik
The ONYX STUDIO 2 buttons are touch sensitive. With that said, try placing a finger on top of the Bluetooth button for a few seconds, do not press the Bluetooth button. If the bluetooth pairing sequence is still not activated by that and the unit is within 30 days of purchase from a retailer, contact the retailer for warranty claims. Otherwise, submit a claim to www.HarmanKardon.com/contactus.

I plugged in my Onyx Studio 2 to charge it after the battery died but the power button isn't flashing to let me know if it's charging. Is there a reason why?

Asked by: Sal95116
Your speaker seem to be behaving erratically, the unit should show a LED indication that it is charging. A LED indicator should be seen even if the unit is switched OFF or not. I would suggest you submit a case to www.harmankardon.com/contactus for a warranty claim on your speaker if the speaker within one(1) year from purchase.
