Rated 5 out of 5 by Jambi from Tremendous sound and value for your dollar Wow, a tremendous pair of computer speakers that are well built, sound great and carry the JBL name. I listen to live concerts on these, video blogs and radio stations. At the very high volumes, low background levels or anything in-between, these speakers always sound great, well balanced, cohesive and composed. These speakers are very transparent and they simply get out of the way when listening to music. They simply leave you with just the artist and you in the room. You completely forget you are listening to a $50 pair of speakers. It's amazing that you can get such awesome sound for so little money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Markunder from Fair sound poor bass responce! I got these about a month ago to play on my pc at work, needles to say I need to keep the volume low in the office so bass will suffer. But having said that, I have a flip 2 for about 6 month now and am very impressed with the sound quality. It has very good bass response for such a small driver so I felt the Jembe's would be just as impressive given their larger size and the fact that they are not battery driven. I'm thinking about returning these and trying the Pebbles. I have been a long long time JBL lover, my home theater is all JBL. But I'm afraid I can’t recommend these speakers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by eligirl from Completely useless with the audio shut off feature I was going crazy trying to figure out if I had fiddled with some setting on my computer, because the stupid speakers kept shutting off. Then I looked up these reviews and realize this is an intended feature?? It is the most ill conceived idea I've ever encountered. First of all they take up to 30 seconds to turn themselves on when you start playing anything. I'm an editor, so there are times you don't have audio going in and then the speakers shuts off. I did a remote sound spot session from home and started panicking 'cause the stupid speakers turned themselves off. I'm very glad now know it's the speakers and not me or my computer, but that was 60 dollars wasted.... we should all get our money back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by KenSez from JBL – Just the Best Loudspeakers I bought my first pair of JBL’s in 1977 [Decade 36] and I still have them today. They were re-foamed by an expert in 2003 and they sound as marvelous as ever. These Jembe desktops are much smaller but the sound quality is just as big. Technologically advanced, they turn on and off automatically in response to audio signal [follow the mfr. instructions cited here].The range is full and clear, the base is stunning, the design is unique and the value is self-evident. What else would you expect? They are JBL’s! Be proud of your speakers. Love your JBL’s . Get these.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jaynyc from Would be great if it didn't power down on it's own Purchased these speakers a few days ago. I love the small real estate on my desk. I love the sound BUT, even so some are not unhappy with the auto shutoff 'feature,' I find it very annoying. I miss the beginning of an online video or I have to manually shut them off and turn them back on. I like speakers that stay on the entire time I am using my computer. Good intentions but flawed design. If I didn't get them hugely discounted, I would return them. I will most likely purchase speakers to replace these in the near future. I would not advise buying these.

Rated 4 out of 5 by sujeviper from BIG SOUND in small speakers! I just bought these today and they are great. I've used a Creative 2.1 for six years and was very satisfied with it. Then i downgraded to a 2.0 and was using Logitech for the last two years which was alright but not great. Went to the store today and tried out JBL and Bose and these surely win. The auto-off feature has not yet kicked in but all the negative reviews are only about that. It's says it'll go off by itself if it is silent for 3 minutes. It's just trying to save you some power so how can that be bad. Really good score....Awesome Bass for a 2.0.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sciguy from Astounding Sound For The Price! Exceptional Sound for the price. The sound vastly improves if the speakers are placed a foot or so away from a wall in that they now work as if the are bass reflex speakers. I am very pleased with them. Many reviewers complain about the auto shutoff feature, but I did not find it annoying. It only takes a few seconds for them to "wake-up" Most times I just bring up the volume bar and click it to get a ping and that is sufficient to turn them back on. My only regert is that I did not buy three pairs when they were on sale!

Rated 1 out of 5 by bfridley from Auto Power Off - Annoying - If no fix, I'm returni I love the speakers... when they actually are working. But the speakers have an 'auto-off'/power save mode that kicks in apparently at random. If the speakers detect there's no sound coming from them, they go into power save. Unfortunately, they do this even when there is actually sound playing. This makes the product very irritating and essentially useless. Hopefully JBL is monitoring these reviews and can provide a fix. If I can't get this fixed soon, I'm returning and spending my money somewhere else.
