Features

266xs Stereo or Dual Mono operation - Image

Stereo or Dual Mono operation

Operate the dbx266xs's gating, and compression in either stereo or dual mono modes.

266xs OverEasy®/Hard Knee Selection - Image

OverEasy®/Hard Knee Selection

Select between our famous OverEasy compression curve and the classic “Hard Knee” curve popularized by the original dbx 160, 161 and 162.

266xs Program-adaptive expander/gates - Image

Program-adaptive expander/gates

Utilize the 266xs's Expander/Gate controls for numerous applications. Slow settings are useful for gating out noise present behind vocals and acoustic instruments. Fast settings are useful for tightening up the sound of percussion (e.g., kick or snare drum) and drying up leakage from other instruments into percussion tracks.)

266xs Separate precision LED - Image

Separate precision LED

LED displays for gain reduction, compression threshold and gate threshold allow quick, accurate setup

266xs dbx’s AutoDynamic™ circuitry - Image

dbx’s AutoDynamic™ circuitry

We scaled the program-dependent Attack and Release controls with dbx’s AutoDynamic™ circuitry, so that the 266xs full range of controls produce voicings that extend from slow leveling to aggressive peak limiting.

266xs Stereo Couple Switch - Image

Stereo Couple Switch

Press the dbx266xs's STEREO COUPLE switch in for stereo operation where Channel 1 becomes the master controller for both channels. All of Channel 2’s controls, switches, and LEDs will be disabled (except for the Channel 2 GAIN REDUCTION meter), since Channel 2 is the secondary unit.

266xs Balanced inputs and outputs on 1/4" TRS and XLR connectors - Image

Balanced inputs and outputs on 1/4" TRS and XLR connectors

The 266xs features balanced inputs and outputs on 1/4" TRS and XLR connectors which help eliminate common mode noise problems that may arise

266xs Side Chain inserts - Image

Side Chain inserts

The dbx266xs's side chain inserts enable use of an outboard processor or signal to control compression or gating.

266xs Classic dbx® "Auto" mode - Image

Classic dbx® "Auto" mode

Override the dbx266xs's ATTACK and RELEASE controls and enable preset program-dependent attack and release times with Auto Mode. These times are derived from the input signal and continuously change to match its dynamics. When enabled, the Auto switch lights indicating the attack and release times are being automatically adjusted in a program-dependent fashion. Enabling this AUTO function duplicates the “classic dbx sound” of the 166A which is a standard in the industry.

Description

Bring a more professional sound to your mix.

The 266xs puts pleasing compression and smooth gating within reach of everyone. The classic dbx® compression delivers everything from mellow “leveling,” to aggressive peak limiting. In addition, the 266xs’s AutoDynamic™ circuitry continuously adjusts attack and release settings in real time in order to optimally match program material. The advanced gating circuitry in the 266xs uses a program-dependent timing algorithm to produce ultra-smooth release characteristics—even with complex signals. Thanks to the dynamic range of the dbx® VCA, the 266xs can provide reliable gating for any circumstance. The 266xs also includes separate LED ladders measuring gain reduction, compression threshold, and gate threshold, making the 266xs intuitive and easy to use.
