Power, performance and more connectivity options than you’ll ever need: Introducing the Harman Kardon® networked AVR 1710S, the answer to any entertainment enthusiast’s hunger for performance and versatility. It’s got muscle: up to 700 watts (100 watts per channel). Its 7.2-channel A/V receiver is equipped with HARMAN TrueStream Bluetooth® connectivity, Apple AirPlay, vTuner™ Internet radio and Spotify Connect, giving you multiple options for streaming audio. And with six 3D-ready HDMI® 2.0 inputs, including one equipped for MHL to connect mobile devices, and two HDMI outputs, you’ll have more than enough ways to connect to everything you love – movies, HDTV, sports, MHL-equipped devices and the Roku Streaming Stick™ dongle. While the AVR 171’s connectivity alone makes it desirable, its sound really strikes a chord. It’s the first Harman Kardon AVR to feature our exclusive Natural Sound Processing (NSP), which creates a rich, enveloping surround-sound from any source – particularly with two-channel streaming content. And its EzSet/EQ™ III system automatically calibrates the AVR to your speakers and listening environment. The AVR 1710S is light, too, thanks to HARMAN GreenEdge™ certification – delivering all the power you need with low environmental impact. For those who want it all, the AVR 1710S can’t be matched.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fine tune After using it for week I realize this amp offers sooo much I have 4 jbl es80 as towers and 2 es250p subwoofer I'm using the front towers for fronts but backs are surround for high and mids surround back for lows so I'm using bi wiring on the backs and I couldn't be any happier you can adjust the crossover frequency on the amp for each. Speakers front center surround and surround back so you use all channels on the amp. 2 subs out what I needed it lfe makes big diffrence on both subs amazing clarity great job anyone came into the house to listen to the system says never hear so clear sound and of course loud thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loaded with Features, Fantastic Sound Quality Got Home from work today and found this on my front porch set up was a breeze took all but 20 minutes and then spent the next hour or so tweaking very easy to learn basics no need for manual maybe later this weekend when I configure it on my network but for now was eager to get it up and running so I could relax with some music (for now I've been streaming progressive rock (Emerson Lake & Palmer and ...) From an iPhone through a Klipsch 5.1 Speaker setup via bluetooth using the Surround Neo:6 for music setting on the receiver and I can't tell you how pleased I am with the Sound reproduction I'm hearing just out of the box with a little manual tweaking very impressive and can't wait to spend the time this weekend configuring the network, set up AirPlay and calibrating the room to get the full potential out of this receiver. A definite Best Choice for the technology packed full featured little powerhouse this is and what makes it is the very reasonable cost to feature to quality ratio.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing receiver Great receiver. It's so much lighter than my older receivers. The updated technology allows me to stream music from my phone wirelessly. The sound it produces is amazing. Awesome receiver!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great multi channel sound and amazing 2 channel So I got this a week ago, I think I can give a basis on what this receiver is good at and what it lacks.... I love the detail and clarity. It’s very Mid based on the audio spectrum. The mid range in this system is magical. There is a difference between audiophile sound and studio sound. This receiver by no means is studio related. But it does to direct format from sources like Dolby and dts. Up to 7.2 channels. Don’t worry if you don’t have a subwoofer. This receiver has a tone of bass. But it’s not up front Bass. Picture and 70/80’s cabinet speaker. As of Bass it goes very low and sound very nice, and there is little distortion. I am using klipsch reference speaker. So it might be different depending on your speakers.... You won’t be disappointed. I was smart and bought this refurbished for 220$ so for me this is a even better deal but even for 550$ this is a good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it !!!! Replaced a HK receiver I bought in 1994 (still looks and sounds new). My 1st actual avr receiver and it sounds great. Matched with HKTS16 speakers and sounds great. Just bought a 2nd set of same speakers while on sale to complete a 7.2 system

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good first impression Bought this a year ago. It was all good initially, but soon switch to diff hdmi device stopped working. I have to switch off and turn it on all the time I need to change from Apple tv to cable. Second subwoofer output connection stopped working. So my second subwoofer is useless now. Pros: decent sound quality Lots of hdmi input Airplay facility Dlna Less power consumption Sleek design Cons:volume button in remote is a joke. You better learn Chinese before calling customer support

Hi! My AVR 1710S doesn't seem to pass through HDR content to my TV. UHD/4k material passes through, but not in HDR...not when the source is a Playstation 4 or Nvidia Shield. Doesn't it support HDR passtrough?

I have a speaker switch that controls multi-room speakers connected to Zone 2. I was hoping to control Zone 2 speakers with a seperate volume than Zone 1, which is the main 5:1 surround speakers. I get no response when trying to control Zone 2 volume?

can I connect a bluetooth headphone to the receiver?

Asked by: agaluga
Hi there, you cannot connect the two over Bluetooth as they are both Bluetooth receivers, not transmitters . You also cannot connect dongle on the headphone jack since it will still need to give you the option to select the speakers from a Bluetooth list. Fur further questions please contact us at https://www.harmankardon.com/support-contact.html. Have a great day!

Set my 1710s to assigned amp zone 2 to play audio in a separate room. When I use Airplay from my I-phone in main zone and want to hear Airplay in zone 2 simultaneously, I can't find the Airplay option in menu for zone 2. Bluetooth yes, Airplay, no.

Asked by: KeithL
Zone 2 is strictly for analog audio sources. Airplay uses digital signal and this will not allow you to play on your zone 2 speakers. Only one of the AVR’s internal sources (iPod, USB, vTuner, Network, AirPlay, DLNA DMR) can be active at a time across both zones. For example, if you are listening to vTuner as the source in Zone 1 and switch the source in Zone 2 to USB, it will switch the source in Zone 1 to USB(and vice versa). To listen to different sources in Zone 1 and Zone 2 at the same time, at least one source must be one of the AVR’s configurable external sources (Cable/Sat, Disc, STB or TV) that is connected to one of the AVR’s analog audio inputs, or one of the AVR’s terrestrial radio sources (FM or AM). Furthermore, if you want to play 1 source to both zones, you should set the zone 2 speakers back to surround sound speakers. Then, set the surround mode to 7 channel stereo. This will allow you to output sound to all of the speaker.
