JBL Free X is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from JBL Free X fixed connectivity problems of the Free I had the original JBL Free, which I thought sounded really good and fit well. Like all the reviews say, the left earbud on the original Free cut out quite a bit. I filed an exchange request and asked to swap them out for the Free X, which supposedly has better connectivity. After receiving them, I can safely confirm that connectivity is exponentially better, and this is now a product I can highly highly recommend over some of its peers. I haven't experienced on cutoff to this point and am thoroughly pleased with the product I currently have at hand. Do not confuse the Free X with the original Free, which some reviews do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product and Fantastic Sounds! I previously had headphones that wrapped around your ears and had the cord around the neck. These lasted for about two years but now having the JBL Free X is absolutely totally different and freedom! Their sound is clearer, more succinct than the other ones, as well as less cumbersome and light! I will never go back to the old version now that I have purchased this great pair! The charging case is also a fantastic addition!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Bluetooth Connection, Low Sound Quality I received a pair of JBL free’s as a birthday gift and was highly disappointed in the product. Within the first few uses of them, the left earbud would lose connection frequently, both would lose connection if I went from one room to another without my phone, and the sound quality is similar to that of a cheap pair of earbuds. Lastly, they fell out of my ears and didn’t fit comfortably even with the size adjustments. Exchanged them for a pair of Bose SoundSports and am much happier: better fit, better connection, EXCELLENT sound quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from problems I feel I need more time to evaluate this product fairly because I am frustrated trying to get it to work. The sound may be good. It took me lots of attempts for my pc to see JBL free bluetooth. It wasn't showing up. tried another pc with the same problem. I finally got it to pair but than it wont connect. I need more instructions for use. I did get it to connect after making sure no other device was using JBL free, but the left earbud drops the connection, no sound.and I dont know how to reconnect it because following manual didnt work. -- [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from What the he double hockey sticks I just returned these and for some reason Harman still wants a review. They were okay for a minute and then the left side wouldn’t connect despite all the recommended troubleshooting. Too much hassle for now. I’ll wait until someone comes out with some decent wireless headphones. The rubber tips on the headphones were too flat and close to the device which pressed against my ear and made them sore so I put tips I already had on that were taller but the case wouldn’t shut then. Not good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What I've come to expect I just got mine, and so far like all my other JBL products they don't disappoint. The sound is great, and they fit good in my ear. I've had problems with earbuds fitting in my ear in the past, but these work fine. I like how when you take them out of the charging case they are ready to pair. The button functions is a feature I don't see anyone talk about in the reviews, so I'm going to talk about them. I think button features are important, because part of the reason you get wireless headphones is to have your hands free and that should include not having to hold the phone. With that being said the button features are great they're easier than the button features on my E 45 BT headphones. Overall these are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Stunning sound I have the JBL FREE X for about a week now and I am absolutely awed by the amazing sound. The Bass is deep and rich and the low octaves sound powerful. The highs are crisp and pure. The mid range is just perfect. Without any kind of equalisation the sound is perfect and makes me want to listen to all my favourites again. The JBL FREE X comes with 3 sizes of ear tips that provide very good practice noise isolation. There are also 2 sizes of Gel Sleeves for a more secure fit. It is a very comfortable fit and the headphones do not fall off easily. The Case which is also the Battery Charger is of very good quality and small enough to carry easily. There is an LED indication when charging which is a pretty cool feature. I own many pairs of headphones, both over the ear and in- ear types and with Active Noise Cancellation and passive noise isolation and I must say that these little in-ear headphones are comparable to my $500 SONY noise cancellation headphones in terms of Sound quality. I will most definitely purchase a pair of these JBL FREE X headphones for my Son. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've heard something about the JBL free X's not being in sync while for example watching a YouTube video. Is it true, and if it is, can it be "fixed"?

Asked by: Emil Rex
The JBL Free and most of our Bluetooth portable products are not necessarily designed to be used as a speaker for video. If the device has the option of a wired connection, we recommend using this as an alternative. In this case, the Free X doesn't have a wired connection. What you are experiencing is a limitation of Bluetooth. When you start the video and audio at the same time, the audio will lag behind by the length of time it takes the Bluetooth hardware to receive, process and output it which is known as Latency. You won’t notice this lag if you’re listening to music, but if you’re watching a video the sound may be marginally out of sync or sometimes when it cannot process the audio format, it would completely stop. Latency varies depending on the hardware and software setups you have.

what is the difference between this and the regular JBL Free?

Asked by: KHWGamer
I think it's just an updated version of the JBL free . They have better connection and sound quality.

When a call comes in and is answered, sound only comes out of the right ear. Is that normal? Music plays out of both sides.

Asked by: keith ob
Yes it is normal, calling for the JBL Free only uses one ear and switches back to both ears after the call.

I am looking for earphones that can be used as earplugs as well. So when not listening to anything it provodes as good sound filtering as an earplug. Is it a suitable model for that?

Asked by: Manka
Hi! The JBL Free X does block off sound when worn. It does not have active noise cancelling, but it does have passive noise cancelling which can improve by changing the ear tips and the gel sleeves to fit the size of your ear according to how you want them to fit.
